On Thursday 11th January, the School Council set off to Majestic Trees, Flamstead to buy a new tree to replace the one that had to be removed on the playground.
We were welcomed by the friendly staff on reception and some of us, who had forgotten our wellies (Mr Burrett and Mrs Dryden), were able to borrow a pair. Both were very relieved as the ground was very muddy.
Alan Williams, a Senior Horticultural Advisor, sorted us out with high visibility vests and explained how the visit was going to proceed. He greeted all the children and patiently answered all the questions they wanted to ask. We then had a guided tour around the nursery, learning about the different types of trees that were available and discovering the sort of tree that would suit our school the best.
We decided on a fruit tree as we thought it would be nice to have our own apples at Studham, selecting a Golden Delicious tree. We are all looking forward to eating the apples that will be ready in the autumn and enjoying watching the tree change from season to season.
We would like to send our sincere thanks to Alan and his team for making our visit so enjoyable and informative.
