At last the summer term is here and the lovely weather has meant the children have been able to spend longer outside, exploring the environment and extending their physical activities.
We will be visiting the common this term to explore the plants and minibeasts that can be found there and in July will be going to Ashridge for a class trip that includes den building and bug hunting.
We will be talking about weddings and will use the Royal Wedding as a stimulus for a number of activities; writing invitations, acting out a wedding service and finding out about the different elements of a wedding. The children will also have the opportunity of baking their own cupcakes.
We are looking forward to learning about a number of abstract artists; Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kadinsky, Jackson Pollock and Georges Seurat who developed the art of Pontillism. The children will create their own original pieces of art and these will be presented in one of our Friday Family Collective Worships.
This is the final term before the children’s attainment has to be published to the local authority so we will be filling in any gaps in the children’s learning and understanding and supporting them to ensure they reach their full potential.
As our thoughts turn to the end of the school year and the transition into Year 1, I will be working closely with Mrs Rhodes to support the children to settle and adapt to their new environment when they leave Oak Class and join Sycamore in September.
As always, please feel free to come and speak to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Mrs S Dryden
