Welcome to Hedgehog Class

Hedgehog Class is the Preschool of Studham Village CE Academy and welcomes children from the term after their second birthday.  Our preschool is open every week day from 8:45 am until 3.00 pm, and we welcome visits from parents and their children.

The first step is to contact Ms Oldham in our school office on 01582 872337, who will then arrange for you to come and visit our school and meet our staff. 

Our preschool team is the starting point of the children's journey through our small, village school and we are a very friendly, nurturing setting and are proud of the strong relationships we develop with our children and their families.

To begin the process, we arrange to visit you and your child at your home to collect the necessary information and to introduce ourselves.  Two members of staff attend the visit, one will complete all the paperwork with you while the other one plays and talks with your child in an environment where they feel secure and confident.

You and your child to attend our preschool for a 'stay and play' session.  This session is an hour in length and gives you both the opportunity to see how we work and meet the other children in the setting.

Our settling in process is built around each child and there is no pressure for a child to be ready by a certain date or length of time.  We will work with you to establish what suits your child and this time can be built up until they are ready to stay for the selected number of sessions that you have requested.

Mrs Colliass is the reception teacher and the children have the opportunity to experience the reception classroom and get to know the children during free flow when all the children mix together.

If your child then joins the reception class at the end of their time in preschool, the transition is smooth and anxiety free as they will already know their teacher and be familiar with the classroom.
