Learning to Care, Caring to Learn - All Flourishing as Children of God

Our Christian Ethos

Caring to Learn, Learning to Care - All Flourishing as Children of God

Our Vision:

We are a Church of England School and proud of our strong links with the Church. Our commitment is rooted in the idea that we are made in God’s loving image (Genesis 1:27) and shaped by the teachings of Jesus. The school has a clear identity as a Christian school which comes through in the care of each other and shapes our expectations for relationships and behaviour.

We believe that our children deserve the very best education possible both in terms of the curriculum and of their development as individuals. We are committed to:

  • making sure that our children are secure, happy and well supported.

  • providing a stimulating education which enhances children’s enjoyment and confidence and helps them reach their full potential.

  • giving each child a truly personalised education, raising standards for all.

  • teaching children to value and respect themselves and others and to play a full role in the community.
  • educating children for hope and aspiration by fostering an understanding of right and wrong.

We promote our vision by living our school motto:

“Caring to Learn, Learning to Care – All Flourishing as Children of God.”

Our Values:

We educate for community by teaching that Christian values such as love, tolerance, personal responsibility and charity are important keys to establishing successful relationships in school and in daily life.

The school has a wide range of values from which children, staff and parents have chosen each year. We develop our understanding through our values programme.

Each half term we focus on one of the values using our times of Collective Worship to share our thoughts and to provide times of reflection on how best to apply the values to our everyday lives. Staff and children will also use individual lesson time to reflect on how a value has been or could have been applied in a certain situation. The focus is not simply on knowing what a value means but rather how to live it within and beyond our school community. We teach children how these Christian values are intrinsic to the British values which underpin our national identity.
